Quoting GSMArena, the first evidence of a chipset has appeared on Sony’s firmware distribution server. The chipset has an internal model number of the SM8250 which is believed to be Snapdragon 865. There are also rumours circulating that the chipset will launch in two variants, namely the variant with an integrated 5G modem and the other version with 4G connectivity. It makes sense for Qualcomm to offer the two models because 5G is still fairly new, and not everyone wants to pay more to become an early adopter. However, it is unclear whether Sony will offer the premium smartphone with both options. When viewed from the previous Xperia presence, the device is also expected to slide in the mat of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, next year.
