The rollout was stopped a few hours later with Samsung pulling the firmware files of the S8 and S8+ from its server. According to a statement given by SamMobile, the updates were pulled because it was causing some phones to restart.
This problem only occurred in a limited number of cases but clearly, it was enough to pull the update. Samsung is already on a new version of the update which they expect to be made available very soon. The impact of the buggy update is somewhat limited due to the fact that the buggy software was not distributed worldwide.
