From the looks of things, the latter budget chipsets are what you will expect to see on the Samsung budget smartphones such as the A and M lineups. That means we could get more Samsung Galaxy 5G smartphones with cheaper price tags by 2020. However, bear in mind that nothing is concrete as we speak. As we all know, Samsung tries as much as possible to be competitive with the noisy Chinese neighbours – Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi and Huawei, especially in the budget segment. It is no coincidence that these Chinese Big Four have developed a partnership with MediaTek for its 5G chipsets prior to this report. If the Samsung partnership with MediaTek materializes, and the Chinese Big Four produces massive smartphones in 2020 with these chipsets, we are likely to see MediaTek commanding a good 5G SoC market share next year. In case you missed it, MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G Chipset breaks the limits of any SoC MediaTek has ever done. Asides from the 5G capability, the SoC combines the latest APU 3.0 and Mali-G77 GPU for AI and gaming exceptionalities. It also boasts of 4.7Gbps downlink and 2.5Gbps uplink speeds on sub-6GHz networks. Features such as Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and 2.6GHz CPU are also in the bag.
