But who would have thought that the processor was also used by the Mars Perseverance rover, which just landed on Mars a few weeks ago? Yes, it is understood that NASA did not use a modern type of high-performance processor, but they adopted a PowerPC processor, more precisely the PowerPC 750 processor. We can’t compare the PowerPC 750 processor with modern processors, because this processor only supports single-core processing and clock speed up to 233MHz only.

NASA itself says that it prefers to use the processor because the technology has been tested several times and has been proven reliable. NASA doesn’t want to take risks so they still use this processor.
