To begin with, the documentation already indicates that the device will contain a new SoC, Motorola is finally getting rid of the Snapdragon 400 series, and this year prefers the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC. Other specifications that the FCC still mentions, that is the smaller battery. Where in the Moto G6 Play there is still a huge 4,000mAh battery, that is not the case for the Moto G7 Play, since Motorola has put in a 2,820mAh battery, according to the documentation. That takes away a large part of the Moto G (x) ‘Play’ series’s right to exist. The Verge makes an interesting comparison there, the Z3 Play also had to deal with a smaller battery compared to the Z2 Play – possibly to sell more Moto Mods… although there is already a battery mod in the base the box of the Z3 Play.
Notches strike again
Motorola always stayed away from the notches so far. At the beginning of this year, Motorola preferred smaller screen edges, but a notch was not used. This decision does not seem to last too long if the images leaked through the FCC can be included. There is clearly a picture of the front, with the Motorola logo at the bottom in the front, and a notch at the top. In the notch is the speaker, selfie camera and the well-known self-flick of Motorola. Furthermore, there are a number of interesting additions to be found in the illustrations of the FCC, so there is a USB-C connection present, just like a 3.5 mm jack. The fingerprint scanner can also be found on the back, no longer at the front, as was the case with a part of the G6 series. When the Motorola Moto G7 Play comes on the market is not yet known – but considering the device is already certified by FCC, that points to a relatively quick revelation. The price of the device is not yet known. Moto’s current G6 Play has a suggested retail price of 199 euros (approx. N82,000 naira).
