Talking about the internet, recently researchers from the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) in Japan managed to set a new record, which is the highest internet speed in the world. Previously, the record for the fastest internet speed was at 178 Terabits per second, now researchers from NICT Japan have succeeded in presenting the internet with double the speed of 319 Terabits per second. It is stated that the internet with very high speed can be obtained using the most advanced fibre optic and cable infrastructure which has a length of 3,001 kilometres. The optical cable is also equipped with 4 cores which can perform the transmission process quickly rather than using a cable with only 1 core. For comparison, currently, the internet speed produced by 5G networks alone is now reaching the figure of 1-10 Gigabits per second, therefore this record can be said to be one of the important accomplishments that the researchers in Japan managed to achieve. What do you think, if you have access to use the internet with such high speed, what would you like to do? Kindly share your thoughts in the comment box below.
