It was said that the company founded by Mark Zuckerberg had poured money of US $400 million or equivalent to N155 billion naira to acquire the platform. With this acquisition, Facebook can fully integrate the Giphy service into its social media services such as Instagram to WhatsApp and Facebook itself. “Giphy can make the conversation in the application more entertaining. Therefore, we are trying to integrate this GIF library so users can find the right way to express themselves,” Facebook said. Previously Giphy had collaborated with Facebook in presenting the GIF contained on its platform so that it could be used on the Instagram Stories feature. In addition, despite being acquired, Giphy still continues to operate as usual. Maybe later Facebook will add the label ‘From Facebook’ on the platform such as it’s on the WhatsApp and Instagram apps. Let’s wait and see!
